4. About Education (1) 

When talking about education models, a friend said that he admires the education model of American family, where one parent takes on the main education role. If the child does not eat, they do not chase to feed them. If they are dishonest, they are severely punished. When disciplining, others will not interfere in front of the child. However, in his family his wife often argues with him about education issues in front of the child. The grandparents also often intervene to show their love for the grandchild. As a result, his child lacks a sense of responsibility and often takes advantage of the different opinions of the adults.

 

Recently another piece of news reports that there has been a debate over education in the United States also. “Tiger Mom”, a strict education model from the Orient has got support from psychology and cognition science research. “A common problem in American parental education is that they often excessively praise children who put in little effort" and the Chinese mother's education model is considered superior.

 

Regardless of East or West, there is no such thing as an advanced or backward education model. Education is the process of cultivating a child's growth in Jue (Perception) Shi (Cognition). The key point is whether the way of education can enable the child to balance with their living environment.

 

Education that complies with balance is superior, otherwise it is inferior. For example, for a child living in America, American-style family education suits him to face American society in the future. For a child living in China, Chinese-style family education is not necessarily bad. An American child in China often seems out of place and frequently experiences social maladjustment. A Chinese child in America is like a square peg in a round hole, finding it hard to integrate into local society.

 

Letting the children learn field-based thinking and understand balance, means that they are equipped with surviving and adapting ability. No matter where they end up in the future, they can adapt well and have a good and harmonious life.
